Sunday was a very busy with church and running errands. My husband suggested we order dinner from Pizza Hut because he had received a Birthday coupon for some free cinnamon sticks. We decided to order online which we usually do, this way we can review what specials they are offering and give our payment information online, so we don't have to worry about it at the door.
We order a Big Pizza Box Deal. It included 2 medium pizzas, an order of cheesy breadsticks and a 2 liter of soda. We also ordered an order of spicy BBQ wings for my Daughter Taya, she doesn't eat pizza, and redemed the coupon for the cinnamon sticks. We ordered a pepperoni pizza because my husband doesn't consider it a meal if it doesn't have meet and I prefer vegetables, so I got mushroom and onions. We almost always try to get a package deal that includes breadsticks and cinnamon sticks. After we submitted our pizza order and paid, it then told us it would be an hour and a half!! I was not thrilled about this. If I would have known this before submitting my order, we would have chose something else. It was already 6:00 and we were already hungry, plus Laurynn goes to bed at 8:00 and I hate her going to bed on a full stomach. There wasn't much of a choice though. My children waited very impatiently for the pizza to be delivered. About every ten minutes one of the children asked how much longer. We all did different things while waiting some watched tv, others did homework, the little one played with toys.
Finally at 7:30 the pizza arrived. The delivery man said they were very behind, apologized and realized he forgot our soda. He offered to go back to get it but we declined. I have included a picture of Laurynn excited to see the pizza arrive and other pictures of them devouring it. As we started to eat the pizza, it was a little disappointing it was luke warm, along with the cinnamon sticks. The wings Taya ordered were smothered in sauce, overly smothered, but still warm at least. We were really hungry, so we all ate pretty fast. Since, it was already not real warm we ate dessert right after dinner, so they didn't get any colder. When we order pizza, a lot of times we do not use plates or the kids only might. We usually tend to eat over the box. As far as the cinnamon sticks they never hit a plate. We just grab, dip and eat. We don't portion them out or anything but make sure everyone gets some of them. Dessert is pretty much expected by my children. They don't really think of it as a treat, they just expect to have it.
After dinner, it was late for our family. The little ones had to go right to bed and Taya had to go finish homework. My husband and I were full, not overly full. Just the right amount of full. The meal was only ok. It may have been better if it was warmer and didn't take so long to be delivered. At the end of the meal, we really had wished we had chose another option for dinner. Obviously, our service from Pizza Hut was not of a typical day. We just hope next time its better.

ToGo Desserts
So, here are some of the pictures I promised. The first one is my husband and I at a Christmas party. The others our of my children Taya, Drew, Laurynn and Jasmynne.
Tonight were going to talk about desserts on the go. The one that we have delivered probably most I mentioned in my previous blog, Cinnamon Sticks. We order cinnamon sticks everytime we order pizza. We chose this dessert because they usually come in a quantity of 10, which is a good portion for my family. A lot of other dessert options we would have to order several portions and its not usually economical. This cinnamon sticks usually arrive warm and the cinnamon scent is such a comforting scent. I also like how the icing is served on the side. I don't like a lot on mine, so its great that I can decide the amount. Also, the cinnamon sticks are pretty basic, no fuss, dough, butter and cinnamon; doesn't usually provide a reason not to like. My kids aren't usually picky eaters but of course the simpler the better. I've included a picture, they look yummy!
McDonald's is an easy dessert place. We can all pick what we want and flavor, so it offers more variety. I particularly love their EggNog and Shamrock shakes. My husband hates them. He's crazy! I don't know if I like them because their seasonal and you can only get them for a short time or what, but I love those flavors. Since my husband doesn't he'll usually order Strawberry and were both happy. Also, McDonalds is fairly inexpensive so I don't feel like I'm spending an arm an a leg.
When we are splurging I would say Tiramisu is one of our family favorite dessert. If we pick up italian food, this is always ordered with it. I consider it splurging because its more of a pricier meal and more indulgent. The layers of liquoer drenched lady fingers and marscapone cheese our so rich, you can't eat a lot and I require a glass of milk to help wash it down. These are my favorite types of dessert. They just take me to a whole different euphoria : )
The DONT's
The above dessert I think is one of my all time favorites. The Maple Butter White Blondie, omg it is so good. Thsi though is a horrible to go dessert. The restaurant usually serves the brownie topped with ice cream, (which melts before you can get it home) but also they serve it on a hot sizzling skillet so when you for the Maple Butter on it it thins out and gets nice and warm. Obviously, to go there is no sillet and it just doesn't have the same effect. This also is not a great option for my family because it would be way more than I want to spend for dessert since we would need to buy multiples. this is something I usually save for a date night with my husband when were eating at a restaurant.
Molton Lava cakes from Domino's, they look good but once their made and drove to your house, they lava is not really melty or warm, the chocolate cake is too dense. if you try to warm it in the microwave even for a couple seconds, it kinda just burns. These would probably great if I was sitting eating at Domino's but that is not an option. Also, again the portion is too small for my family. My kids don't behave well if I have to cut their desserts in half for them to share with their siblings, except maybe for Drew.
Lastly, the local Krystals buy us serves these Fried Cheesecake Bites. They usually have about 5-6 in them and fairly inexpensive. I could usually order two orders and everyone be happy. Unfortunately, they just are not right and it could just be that they are hard to cook right but I have ordered them a few times giving them a try but either the inside cheesecake is hot, which is not appealing to me at all or it is still frozen. I think these must be like calamari; there is a very specific way they need to be cooked to be good and that is not something most fast food restaurants can do.
I think take out/ delivery desserts are hard. Most desserts are usually meant to be ate shortly after being prepared. Having a drive will usually cool them off or melt their ice cream, making them not to appear or taste as well. I want a dessert that is usually fairly simple in the fact that it will still last through the transportation.
Talk to you soon!

PVR Desserts
Hi, my name is Jolynn. I live in Georgia. I'm also married with 4 children. Three beautiful girls (Jasmynne 15, Taya 13 and Laurynn 6) and one handsome boy, (Drew almost 2). I've posted a picture of my hubby (Andy) and I below. I'll post more pictures in my next blog of my crazy bunch. Tonight I'm on my iPad and can not access my gallery for some reason...
My family always eats dinner together, sometimes Dad can't make it but most days were all around the table together. Since our children range in ages we always feel its important to sit at the table and connect.
Tonight, I am going to talk about desserts.... My family, especially the children, don't feel dinner is over until after dessert, so we usually have dessert daily. We usually wait about 30 minutes after we finish dinner to eat dessert. The only exception is if we order something from delivery and its brought warm. We will eat it right after dinner while its still warm. Sometimes it's as simple as a store bought cookie other nights homemade cheesecake. I usually picks the dessert the whole family is going to eat. Usually, because I'm the one who is going to serve/bake it or passed it in the store. My favorite dessert is usually something rich and decadent, something that makes you want a glass of milk. I usually make these myself or by them at the grocery store. My husband likes ice cream or cream puff type items. The kids favorites are ice cream, cookies and anything that has whip cream or cool whip... We usually buy them at the grocery store also. If we are carrying food out or having it delivered we usually tend to order what they have, there usually isn't many options, but they're usually enjoyed by everyone. When we order pizza, we always order cinnastix. We have a large family and they usually are a large enough portion for all of us without having to order multiple orders. In the past, we have tried other desserts like lava cakes and stuff which were good, but we had to order several orders to feed all of us and spent as much on dessert as we did pizza. At fast food restaurants we don't all order the same desserts. I usually let the kids pick their own dessert. If we go to McDonalds we usually order either shakes, hot fudge sundaes or their baked pies. Dairy Queen is always blizzards. Taco Bell we always get their cinnamon twists. Wendy's we always get Frosty's and fries. Taco Bell and Wendy's there really aren't, any other dessert options.
